The COBB 3" Turbo Inlet Hose is constructed using four ply steel-reinforced silicone, eliminating the issue of hose collapse that other inlet pipes suffer while under suction at peak demand. While the steel reinforcement provides excellent stability, the silicone allows adequate torsional flex, allowing engine movement on the OEM engine mounts under hard acceleration without risk of separation. This system uses all factory fittings and clamps.
The COBB Tuning 3" Turbo Inlet Hose is designed for use with 3" inlet turbos, such as the MHI TF06-18K. Polished - The default finish for this intake. It is what it is. Brushed - For people who don't like shiny things, but still want a clean look. Raw - For those who either don't care about looks, or for those who plan on finishing it themselves. Choosing this option will save you money! Powder Coated - We can powder coat this the color of your choice. Polished and Powder Coated - Polished finish with a transparent powder coat on top. This can be in the form of a clear coat, a black chrome powder (as seen in the photo of the installed CAI above), etc.

Regarding your choice of stainless steel vs aluminum for the piping:
Advantages of stainless over aluminum:
Much better corrosion resistance. With a quick wipe of a rag and some polish will look brand new anytime.
Better for welding, smaller, tighter, cleaner welds, can be welded to more metals
Brushed and polished finishes will look better due to it's higher luster (ie, shinier) and harder surface
Doesn't conduct heat as well (far less likely to heat soak)
More durable - less likely to bend, ding, etc. It will take much more overall abuse.
Advantages of aluminum over stainless:
Much lighter weight (a few ounces for aluminum vs a few pounds for stainless)
We also give you the option of ordering this kit without the air filter in the event that you already have one or are supplying your own. An air filter is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED to run this kit, and we strongly recommend the AEM dryflow for its airflow and filtering capabilities.
The ETS MAF Intake Includes a huge 5" inlet K+N air filter which feeds the intake pipe via the ETS EVO X MAF adapter which is milled on the ETS lathe for the perfect transition to the inlet diameter of the MAF sensor tube. With a built in dowel pin and precise inner diameter to make a 100% seal with the rubber grommet, this piece installs and fits as if it had a Mitsubishi part number. The system is then braced to the chassis with an aluminum bracket to ensure no movement or vibration. A single-piece mandrel bent 3" intake pipe makes the connection between the MAF and turbo with a smooth transition recirculation fitting for an easy connection to the BOV discharge.
This 3" short ram intake was designed for use with aftermarket lower intercooler pipes such as the AMS and ETS kits. Also works with the stock lower intercooler pipe. These lower FMIC pipes relocate the BOV return closer to the front of the vehicle, making your factory BOV system useless. Furthermore, removal of the recirculated BOV setup requires additional work, such as a tune. This is not always an option for those budget minded individuals. So a convenient aftermarket option was needed.
The MAPerformance Evo X Intake Kit features a 3" 304 stainless steel tube. Why stainless you ask? It's a well known fact that steel reduces heat absorption compared to aluminum tubing. Lower heat improves power capacity with the stock mass airflow sensor, so our kit will not require tuning or scaling.
